이번 서울카페쇼에는 ‘바리스타들의 꿈의 무대’, ‘바리스타들의 올림픽’이라고 불리는 WBC(World Barista Championship) 바리스타 대회가 동시 개최돼 화제를 모았다.
대회에는 58개국의 국가대표 바리스타가 참가해 16명이 준결승에 진출하며 그 중 최종 6명만이 결승전에서 바리스타 챔피언을 가렸다. 한국 국가대표 바리스타로 출전한 방준배 바리스타(안드레아 플러스 소속)는 4위로 예선을 통과, 준결승전에서 9위를 기록하는 쾌거를 이루었다.
